Truro is located 99 km (62 mi) north of Halifax
in central Nova Scotia, a location
that has solidified this town's reputation as a transportation hub for the maritimes
because of its placement in between Nova Scotia's capital and the rest of Canada.
Situated at the tip of the Bay
of Fundy on the shores of the Salmon River, Truro offers the chance to experience
the tidal
bore phenomenon, where the power of the bay causes water to flow against the
current at peak times. While in Truro, visitors can partake in a number of activities:
sporty types can check out one of the eight surrounding golf
courses, while history buffs can expand their minds at the local museums,
including the Little
White School House Museum, set in the original town schoolhouse, and the Colchester
Historical Society Museum, where local history is displayed in vast detail.

Park, where 1000 natural acres are accessible via streamside walking paths.
